Their Eyes Were Watching
Hey, my loves! I ask that you stand with me in being better role models. The reason why, you ask? Because there is always someone with their eyes on you, whether you would like to recognize it or not. Let me explain further...

Those of you that are close to me know that I mentor every Tuesday and Wednesday at a high school. As much as I love the girls that I mentor, sometimes they get on my nerves and make me want to pull my hair out. Just being real here. I've noticed a few new gray hairs and I dedicate them to each one of of my girls. I love them so much that I dedicated hairs to them.
Now, as much as I love frill, stilettos, bows, and everything else feminine, my girls love bandannas, middle fingers, and curse words....we're working on it. Regardless of our differences, I still recognize that they are watching how I move. As a matter of fact, they remind me all the time that they watch my Instagram stories and Snapchat stories so that they can observe how I live. These are children but I am sure there are adults watching for guidance.
A lot of times we get so consumed by our own lives that we forget that we are living in a world with other people. One thing my team leader has always said is, "I may not look like I'm paying attention but I know exactly what's going on, and I'm always watching and observing." And there lies the moral. Even when it seems like no one is paying attention, I guarantee there is at least one person observing your moves with gratitude for your guidance.I have had people say things to me like, "I wanted to be an AKA because of you. I want to go to Western High school because that's the school you went to. I want to go to college because you care about my future, etc." When I first heard comments like that, I was taken aback because I didn't think there was anything spectacular about the way I live my life. Now I recognize these statements as mini confirmations that I am doing something right. I'm honored that people admire my journey.
With that being said, my question to you is, "are you accurately portraying yourself in a positive manner?" If your actions were being used to train a new person for a position, are you setting that person up to succeed. Food for thought; you never know who's watching.
